Maximize Your Living Room Space

It's a funny thing, designing a living space. You're looking at a blank canvas where you'll (hopefully) make years of memories with the ones you love the most. No pressure. So you need to put together the room in a way, that first of all- pleases you, but second of all- supports any and all activities that you'll want to use the room for.
Now here at Decibel Designs, we're a bit biased. You could throw one of our bookshelves in the corner and call it a day. Minimalism is in, after all. But we suppose we can expand on the feng shui advice a bit more. Here are tips and tricks to make the most of your living room space:
1) Break it out by zone. Split up the room based on what you want to do while you're in it. If you know you'll spend a lot of time reading, then set aside a specific part of the room and choose pieces that speak to this hobby.
2) Multipurpose is good. Look for pieces that have multiple uses, like a table that can turn into a dining room table and a desk for work. They'll take up less of the space, but still be in use for just as many activities.
3) Customize. There's a caveat on this one. If you're renting your property, please adhere to whatever agreement you have with the owner. But, if you have a bit of freedom- DIY customized pieces around the room. One fun example is a fold up desk. Whenever you're not using it, you can pin it back up against the wall and no one will be any the wiser.
Just the tip of the iceberg here. Looking to talk through more ideas? Give the Decibel Designs team a shout. We'd love to hear from you.
